2.1. Other POP3 and IMAP Clients

If you are using an email program that supports either POP3 or IMAP email access, you can configure it to access your CUW Student Email.

Every program is different, so it is impossible to give step-by-step directions for all of them.  But each one will require the same basic set of information.  You will need the following information:

Depending on if you choose POP3 or IMAP, you will need to set the incoming port accordingly.  For POP3 connections, be sure you have selected SSL encryption and have it set to use port 995 (instead of the defualt port 110).  For IMAP connections, be sure you have selected SSL encryption and have it set to use port 993 (instead of the default port 143).

Finally, for your outgoing mail (SMTP), this needs to be set to use TLS encryption and port 587 (instead of the default port 25).

This should be all the information you need to set up POP3 or IMAP access to your email program.  If you are having difficulties connecting, please verify you are able to login through the direct web interface at www.outlook.com (again, using your email address as the username along with your normal CUW password).  If you cannot login through the outlook.com website, please contact IT Support at 262-243-4357, ithelpdesk@cuw.edu, or by filling out an online request form.  If you are able to get in, please verify you have entered all the information above correctly.
